US: JC Penney to launch first three in-store shops

US department store retailer JC Penney will open its first three in-store brand shops tomorrow (1 August) as part of the company's ongoing transformation.
The retailer said nearly 700 stores have been renovated to install the brands, which include Levi's, i jeans by Buffalo and The Original Arizona Jean Co.
The stores, scheduled to open 1 August, are the first step for creating a new store environment that will transform every JC Penney store with a collection of up to 100 shops, a spokesperson for the company told just-style.
JC Penney will open its second wave of shops on 1 September to introduce Liz Claiborne, IZOD and the company's jcp private brand. The Shops rollout are planned through to 2014.
Earlier this month, JC Penney said it will introduce Loblaw's Joe Fresh branded women's apparel in 700 of its stores in the US next year.
