US: Kellwood completes Royal Robbins purchase

Kellwood Company on Thursday (5 July) said it had completed its purchase of outdoor apparel supplier Royal Robbins from Phoenix Footwear Group for about US$40m.

Headquartered in Modesto, California, Royal Robbins designs and markets premium quality active sportswear and travel apparel for men and women.

Royal Robbins will operate as part of Kellwood's American Recreation Products division, and Robert (Bob) Orlando will continue as president of Royal Robbins.

When the deal was first announced on 18 June, Kellwood said it would enable the company to expand its outdoor recreation and leisure products platform by adding outdoor apparel to a line-up that already included camping and mountaineering brands such as Kelty and Sierra Designs.
