US: Kellwood promotes Karpel to VP

Daniel Karpel has been promoted to vice president and controller of Kellwood Co. He continues to report to Gregg Kleffner, senior vice president of finance and corporate controller.

His responsibilities include oversight of finance and accounting as well as compliance with the requirements of the Securities and Exchange Commission and other regulatory bodies.

Karpel joined St. Louis, Missouri-based Kellwood in January 2006 as controller. His 14-year career includes financial posts with Spartech Corp, NuVox Communications and Ernst & Young.

Kleffner said that Karpel's promotion "is in recognition of his skilful management of Kellwood's finance and accounting functions. Over the past year, he has proven to be a strong leader and he has president over important improvements in our financial processes and organisation."

Karpel is based in St. Louis.
