Amsterdam-based fashion brand Scotch & Soda has been snapped up by clothing giant Kellwood Inc and an affiliate of private equity firm Sun Capital Partners, who say they plan to focus on the label's global growth.
According to Kellwood's president and CEO Michael Kramer, the deal is expected to close in August. Terms were not disclosed.
"Scotch & Soda is one of the coolest, most sought after brands today, and I couldn't be more excited to have them partner with the Kellwood team," he said commented.
"It has achieved tremendous success internationally and has enormous potential for growth in the US market. With Kellwood's resources, we can't wait to see the brand get to the next level."
The Scotch & Soda founders and management team will continue in their respective roles, Kellwood said.
Founded in the 1980s as a men's wear label, Scotch & Soda has expanded over the last ten years to include a women's collection called Maison Scotch, a boy's collection called Scotch Shrunk, a girl's collection called Scotch R'Belle, and the Amsterdams Blauw denim line.
The company's designs are sold in over 30 company-owned and franchised retail stores worldwide and in more than 7,000 partnership accounts.
For Kellwood, meanwhile, whose brands also include Vince, Baby Phat, Phat Farm and Sag Harbor, today's acquisition is the latest in a series of recent buys.
Last year it added outdoor clothing company Isis and contemporary sportswear line Adam to its portfolio, and in January bought the Rebecca Taylor contemporary sportswear brand.
Companies: Kellwood, Baby Phat
