Synthetic fibres maker La Seda de Barcelona has posted a 19.7 per cent slump in first half net profit to $2.4 million from $3m in 2001 amid extraordinary expenses of almost $300,000. The company said last year’s net figure included $780,000 of extraordinary profit. It added turnover fell 10.5 per cent to $125m in the first six months of this year but consolidated sales jumped 10.2 per cent to almost 169,000 tonnes.
