GERMANY: Labels firm supports Cotton made in Africa

Avery Dennison is to supply labels worldwide for all fashion brands and textile retailers participating in the Cotton made in Africa (CmiA) project.

Around 20 companies and brands, including the Otto Group, Puma, Tom Tailor, Bierbaum, QVC, Quelle, Tchibo and Celio are taking part in the initiative to market textiles produced from socially responsible and sustainable cotton grown by African smallholders.

Avery Dennison will supply and produce all cardboard tags and woven labels for textile apparel carrying the CmiA logo.

The project is due to extend to the US in 2009, and will promote the use of cotton from sustainable sources to large US apparel brands and retail chains.
