Labour organisers and workers' rights activists in San Francisco have spoken out against Levi Strauss' decision to close six US manufacturing plants and cut 3,600 jobs this year. Protesting yesterday at Levi's Valencia Street factory Global Exchange co-founder Medea Benjamin called for the resignation of Levi chief executive officer Philip Marineau. Joining Benjamin were representatives of Global Exchange, Sweatshop Watch, the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 101 and the Chinese Progressive Association.
