French clothing company Lacoste is suing Beijing's Silk Alley market for selling fake shirts bearing its famous crocodile logo.

According to the Xinhua news agency, the Paris-based brand wants compensation of CNY100,000 ($12,500) from the market's owner, Beijing Xiushui Haosen Clothing, and five vendors for trademark infringement.

The indictment said: "Xiushui Haosen not only failed to stop these tenants from selling counterfeited Lacoste products but also tried to connive with them by providing business premises."
