USA: Larry Gatlin is Hanging His Name on His Men's Clothing Store
Partners Larry Gatlin and Buddy Estrella are hanging a new sign outside their shop at Bee Caves and Loop 360 that reads, "Gatlin & Estrella Clothiers," to more accurately reflect the changes that have gradually taken place inside its four walls.
"When Larry and I took over the business in 1996, The Oxford Shop was an appropriate name considering the merchandise selection," begins Estrella. "However, we're no longer simply your father's stuffy-suit-and-tie shop as the name implies. We've spent the last four years modifying our business to embrace the more casual dressing culture of our valued clientele."
Estrella emphasizes, "We'll never be a strictly formal or a strictly casual store, because today's Austin executive wants and expects it all. He needs suits in which to attend board meetings and conferences, business casual for everyday office attire and sportswear for the occasional lakefront gathering. To meet all of his needs, The Oxford Shop has evolved into a lifestyle store dressing and accessorizing professional men from head to toe with such designers as Barry Bricken, Cole Haan, Ike Behar, Tommy Bahama and Hickey Freeman. Our name change is simply the latest turn in this evolution."
Estrella vows the shop will continue to change as customers demand, and the fashion industry dictates. "We will continue to keep our finger on the pulse of what's hot today and what's hot next season." In this vein, customers can look forward to a new "store within the store" this fall, featuring an assortment of European-influenced accessories and sportswear.
"We're seeing a resurgence of sportcoats and suits this fall," says Estrella, "with a slight twist. They're no longer stiff-collared and constricting as was typical of this style in the past. Called 'soft clothing,' these new light-weight, comfortable and more casual coats are being paired with crew-necked T-shirts and knits."
Gatlin & Estrella Clothiers is located in The Village at Westlake, 701 Capital of Texas Highway, South, Suite D480. Visit its Web site at www.oxfordshop.com, or call the shop at 512/328-4438.
