US fashion company Liz Claiborne is reportedly negotiating the sale of four of its brands to Chinese apparel firm Li & Fung Group.

It has held talks with the Hong Kong-based manufacturing group's US division over moderately priced brands like Emma James, JH Collectibles, Tapemeasure and Intuitions, reported the New York Post.

A spokeswoman for Liz Claiborne told just-style that the company does not comment on these kind of rumours.

The company has not yet sold any of the 16 brands it put under review in July, which also included C&C California, Dana Buchman, Ellen Tracy, Enyce, Laundry by Design, Mac & Jac, prAna and Sigrid Olsen. It is also unwilling to comment on which of these brands is likely to go first.
