US: Macy's to announce Tommy Hilfiger tie-up?

Macy's is expected to reveal an exclusive deal with Tommy Hilfiger to sell its biggest US lines at Macy's department stores, it has been reported.

The New York Times reports today (26 October) that Hilfiger will restrict sales of men's and women's sportswear to the Macy's chain only.

The US companies were not immediately available for comment.

The Tommy Hilfiger label has also been in the news in recent weeks over rumours that private equity firm Apax Partners, which owns around 80% of the company, is examining a float on the European markets in a deal that could see the company valued at up to EUR3bn (US$4.2bn).
