INDIA: Manufacturing on the rise, exports dip

Factories in India continued to maintain high growth momentum last year while exports dipped in the final quarter, local reports say.

According to Reuters, India's manufacturing sector has grown 11.3% during 2006/07, compared with 9.1% in the previous year, and double-digit growth is expected to continue.

Textile machinery was one of the sectors that posted high growth the report, which cited a survey by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), said.
