Leading footwear marketer Wolverine Worldwide Inc on Monday announced the appointment of Timberland's director of athletic accounts, Mark Castrillon, as vice president of sales of its US Caterpillar Footwear division.

The Michigan-based firm said Castrillon will report to Martin Berendsen, president of Caterpillar Footwear US operations, and will be charged with heading up the US Caterpillar sales force and growing relationships with major accounts.

"We are pleased to have Mark Castrillon as a key member of the CAT Footwear team, and we are confident he will have an immediate, positive impact on our US business," stated Berendsen.

"The CAT footwear brand is experiencing a period of revitalisation which is being fuelled by a new brand plan. This plan is focused on extending the brand beyond its industrial roots into the casual/lifestyle end of the footwear market with 18 to 24-year-old men and women as target consumers."
