UK: Marks and Spencer wins retail award
By Joe Ayling | 2 March 2011
UK clothing retailer Marks and Spencer (M&S) has been voted the UK's top clothing retailer by Verdict Research’s annual poll of consumers.
In Verdict's Consumer Satisfaction Index 2011, which polls 6,000 shoppers, M&S scored highest - ahead of John Lewis and H&M repectively.
General merchandiser TK Maxx swooped the footwear sector prize, followed by Barratts and Matalan.
"This year’s winners tend to be retailers that focus heavily on price or retailers that add a lot of value to their offers," Neil Saunders, consulting director of Verdict, said. "They reflect the fact that consumers are increasingly looking for value for money during these constrained times."
Sectors: Apparel, Footwear, Retail
Companies: Marks and Spencer, Verdict Research, John Lewis, H&M, TK Maxx, Matalan
