Indonesia's largest retail company PT Matahari Putra Prima has reported a net profit increase of 21.98 per cent to 283.06bn rupees ($31.4m) during 2000 compared to figures for 1999. The company claim that the increase in net profits is largely due to the 4.26 trillion rupees received in sales, an increase of 40.13 per cent compared to last year, and a 23.66bn rupees gain in the foreign exchange as opposed to the 33.82bn rupees loss seen last year.
