Figures from the Korea Federation of Textile Industries on Tuesday revealed a 3.1 per cent year-on-year slip in May textile shipments to $1.4 billion and a 15.7 per cent jump in textile imports to $430 million. The group said that by export category, yarns and textiles both fell 1.5 per cent while finished products fell 8.8 per cent. It added total textile exports for the first five months of this year plunged 10.3 per cent to $6bn from 2001.
