India's textile minister Kashiram Rana has upped the export target for textiles in 2001-02 to $17bn, with a view to reaching a long-term target of $50bn by the year 2010. Speaking at a conference for state textile ministers, Rana proposed the setting up of two schemes that would help boost the country's textile exports; an integrated textile park scheme and a scheme to develop the critical infrastructure within the current export cluster of the textile sector.
