Sales at fashion retailer H&M recorded a double-digit surge during September, but dipped slightly on a like-for-like basis, the company said today (15 October).

H&M said its monthly sales in local currencies, including VAT, were 10% higher than in September last year. However, they fell 0.2% on a like-for-like basis.

The company had 1,659 stores at 30 September, 207 more than at the same time last year.

Like-for-like sales have now fallen in four out of the last six months at the Swedish company. However, the September figures were broadly in line with analyst expectations.
