US: New labelling system tackles barcode, RFID demands

Author: | 15 September 2006

Avery Dennison Printer Systems has launched a new labelling solution designed to help companies meet the RFID and barcode identification requirements of major retailers and the US Department of Defense.

The system includes new ItemSight software which, together with a scanner and optional label production systems, enables existing barcode container labels to be converted into labels meeting the new requirements.

It works by scanning the existing barcode, then converting the electronic file to compliant formats, which can then be sent electronically to customers and vendors.

Avery Dennison believes the system will particularly benefit small and medium-sized manufacturers who have limited in-house IT resources.
