The chief executive and president of US sporting goods giant Nike, Mark G Parker, earned a total of US$8.8m in total compensation during fiscal year 2008, the company has reported.

The compensation, outlined in an SEC filing for the year, includes his salary of $1.377m, stock awards of $1.188m, option awards of $3.364m and a non-equity incentive plan compensation of $2.683m.

According to the filing, Parker was paid a salary of $1.25m during fiscal 2007, contributing towards total compensation of $6.228m last year.
