Sportswear giant Nike Inc on Wednesday teamed up with the Lego Co to produce a range of children’s footwear under the Bionicle Toa Nuva brand featuring removable superhero masks over the toe-box.

The shoes will be launched in the United States and Canada this month with a suggested retail price of $50 in chains such as Nordstrom, Journey's Kidz, and JCPenney. It will be launched globally next year.

"The Bioncile partnership is perfectly tailored to fulfill Nike's mission to motivate children to be active," commented Deborah Hilleren, Nike's children's footwear director.

"We believe children can be inspired by both real and imaginative heroes, and it is important to look at the world through their eyes."
