Outlast Technologies Inc on Monday named Swany America Inc as its exclusive partner for a collection of men's and women's leather dress gloves for department and specialty store distribution.

The New York-based company did not disclose the financial terms of the deal but said in a press release that Swany has been producing a wide range of gloves in the US market for more than 20 years.

"Over 100,000 pairs of gloves featuring Outlast phase change technology were sold through department store distribution in 2002," said John Mitchell, vice president of business development for Outlast.

"That success lead to increased retail demand for fall 2003. Unfortunately Gates-Mills, our previous partner unexpectedly exited the category.

"We owe it to the retailers who had such success to make sure that there is no disruption in this program. So we are excited that we could put together a relationship with a company of Swany's stature to take the program forward and meet the demand for the 2003 season."

Swany vice president, Bruce Weinberg, added: "We're pleased to be able to add Outlast Adaptive Comfort Technology to our extensive line of dress gloves and join the ranks of other well-known department store brands like Gold Toe socks and Boston Harbour/Proshield dress outerwear."
