Apparel firm Perry Ellis International Inc on Tuesday named Maple Hosiery Mills Ltd as its licensee for men's hosiery in Canada under the Perry Ellis, Perry Ellis Portfolio and Perry Ellis America brands.

The Florida-based company said the license is for manufacturing and distribution in Canada with the line due to be launched in Spring 2004 in all major Canadian department stores and upscale specialty stores. Financial details were not dislosed.

"We are excited about being able to offer our retail partners in Canada an extension of the Perry Ellis brand. Canada is an emerging market for Perry Ellis and the reception of the brand has been tremendous," said Perry Ellis president Will Manzer.

Ross Butchart, VP of sales and marketing at Maple, added: " We look forward to bringing a new and exciting, fashion forward line of men's hosiery that will satisfy the needs of fashion conscious shoppers while providing them with good value and top quality product."
