Italian fashion house Prada says it is 'entirely satisfied' with preliminary figures which suggest 2009 profit growth was ahead of plan, helped by an expanded retail presence.

The company said in an emailed statement that early figures suggest profit growth for the year was ahead of forecasts, thanks to a 14% increase in retail sales.

Prada added that "the positive economic trend" also allowed it to pump EUR120m into a development plan during the period.
