Sears, Roebuck & Co is to reveal a new apparel strategy in October, which may shift emphasis to premier brands. The details of the strategy will depend on new agreements with vendors, one of which will be announced this autumn. Chairman and CEO Alan J Lacy said yesterday that Sears' apparel business has suffered in the past because it doesn't appeal to the higher income customer that shops at Sears for large tools and appliances. Current apparel brands include Nike Inc and Levi.
