INDONESIA: Ramayana's Value Strategy Pays Off
While many retailers are struggling to stay in business during the Indonesian economic crisis, Ramayana Lestari Sentosa is flourishing thanks to its strategy of selling cheap garments to poorer customers, reported the Asian Wall Street Journal. "You can't get much more low-end than us," says Koh Boon Kim, Ramayana's senior adviser for business development, adding, "Life goes on at normal at that level."
