The following is a general roundup of apparel and shoe chains' February 2007 sales results. The list will be updated as new results become available.

Off-price retailer The TJX Companies said sales for the four-week period were US$1.2bn, up 6% over the last year's period. Same-store sales increased 2% over last year.

Macy's operator Federated Department Stores reported total sales of $1.802bn for the month, essentially flat compared to the same period last year. On a same-store basis, Federated's sales for February were up 1.2%.

Apparel retailer Dillard's announced today that sales for the four weeks were down 8% to US$594.1m compared to sales for the four weeks of February 2006 of $644.3m. Sales in comparable stores decreased 9%.

Department store operator JC Penney Company's total department store sales increased 1.6% for the four weeks ended 3 March 2007. Comparable department store sales decreased 0.2%.

Department store chain Gottschalks announced that same store sales for the month of February 2007 decreased 3.6% compared to the prior year. Total sales for the month decreased 3.8% to $42.6m from $44.3m in February 2006.

Apparel retailer Saks Incorporated announced that for the four weeks ended 3 March 2007 total sales increased 26.5% and same-store sales increased 24.7%, compared to February last year.

Kohl's Corporation reported that sales for February increased 12.8% over the four-week period ended in 2006. On a same-store basis, sales increased 4.4%.

Women's apparel and accessories firm Bebe stores reported retail sales of $43.0m for the four-week period ended 3 March 2007, an increase of 7.0% compared to February 2006. Same-store sales for the four-week period decreased 2.2% compared to an increase of 1.6% for February 2006.

Ross Stores has reported February sales up 7% to $395m for the four weeks up to 3 March 2007, with same-store sales for the month increased 1% over the same period in the prior year.

Global retailer Gap reported net sales of $910m for the four-week period of February, which represents a 5% increase compared with the same month last year. The company's same-store sales decreased 4% due to an extra week last year.

Speciality retailer The Gymboree Corporation reported net sales from retail operations for the four-week period of $62.0m for February, an increase of 17% compared to the four-week period last year. Same-store sales for the four-week period increased 1%.

Women's speciality retailer AnnTaylor Stores Corporation announced that for the four-week period ended 3 March, net sales increased 4.6% to $136.1m, while same-store sales declined 2.9%.

Women's fashion company The Cato Corporation reported sales of $64.9m for the month, a 1% increase over sales for the four week period in 2006. Same-store sales for the month were flat to the prior year.

Fashion retailer Nordstrom reported preliminary sales of $546.6m for the four-week period ending 3 March, an increase of 9.5%. Same-store sales increased 9.1%.

Stein Mart, which sells apparel, accessories and shoes, said total sales increased 7.3% for the four-week period ended 3 March, as compared to the period in 2006. Same-store sales decreased 1.9% for the four-week period of February.

Women's retailer Christopher & Banks said that total sales were $35.0m compared to $28.9m for February 2006. Same-store sales for the five-week period declined 13%, due to the 53rd week in fiscal 2007.

Children's merchandise store operator The Children's Place Retail Stores announced sales of $133.8m for the four-week period ended 3 March, a 18% increase compared to February 2006. Same-store sales increased 5% versus 3% last year during February.

Victoria's Secret owner Limited Brands reported that same-store sales for February increased 3% compared to 2006. The company reported net sales of $730.5m for the month.

Casual apparel retailer The Buckle said that net sales for the month February 2007 increased 10.4% to $37.7m. Same-store net sales increased 4.5% from the same four-week period last year.

Wilsons The Leather Experts reported sales of $22.4m for the month as compared to $29.7m for the four weeks in 2006. Same-store sales decreased 24.7% for the four weeks ended 3 March.

The Wet Seal, a leading specialty retailer to young women, reported a same-store sales increase 5.0% for the four-week period, compared with an increase of 29.3% for February 2006.

Cache Inc, a specialty chain of women's apparel stores with 296 stores open, reported that same-store sales increased 1% during February 2007. Total sales for the four-week period ended decreased $0.1m, or 0.5%, to $19.9m.

New York & Company, a specialty apparel chain with 560 stores, announced today that total net sales for the month of February increased 8.9% to $87.7m, as compared to $80.6m in the four-week period in 2006. Same-store sales increased 2.7% for the month.

Mothers Work, a maternity apparel retailer, said net sales for the month of February 2007 decreased 3.8% to $43.9m, while same- store sales decreased 4.7%, compared to February 2006.

Small and mid-sized town chain Stage Stores reported that its total sales for the four-week period increased 12.4% to $104.6m from $93.1m in the prior year four-week period. Same-store sales increased 1.4%.

Men's retailer JoS A Bank Clothiers announced that its total sales increased 13.3% to $38.3m, as compared with the four weeks in February 2006. Same-store sales increased 2.8% and combined catalog and Internet sales increased 28.2%.

Large-size women's fashion apparel company United Retail Group announced that net sales for the month of February 2007 decreased 2% to $28.6m, while sme-store sales for the month decreased 4%, compared to the prior year period.
