Textile maker Santista Textiles SA has posted a consolidated net profit of US$1.6 million for the first quarter, down from US$6.96m in the same period last year.

The company, owned by the Camargo Correa group, also reported a two per cent year-on-year fall in net revenue to US$63.6m for the quarter.

Pre-tax earnings also dropped during the quarter to US$10.3m, down from US$14.7m in the previous first quarter, while exports fell by 10.5 per cent year-on-year.

Gross domestic sales, however, grew 13.5 per cent year-on-year for the three-month period, while consolidated gross sales jumped seven per cent year-on-year to US$78.45m.
