Eyewear giant Oakley Inc is gaining ground in the fight against counterfeiters after revealing the number of confiscated sunglasses more than doubled last year, while the number of arrests nearly tripled. Working closely with a wide variety of local, national and international law enforcement agencies, the firm's legal team oversaw the confiscation of almost 1.6 million fake Oakley products, primarily sunglasses, worldwide in 2001, with an estimated street value of $24 million.
