Value footwear retailer Shoe Carnival has appointed Carl Scibetta as executive vice president and general merchandise manager.

Scibetta joins Shoe Carnival with over 32 years of experience in the footwear industry. He replaces Cliff Sifford, who was named president and CEO of the company in October following the resignation of Mark Lemond.

Scibetta most recently served vice president and divisional merchandise manager of footwear at department store retailer Belk. He has previously held various positions at the Shoe Corporation of America and Wohl Shoe Co.

Sifford said Scibetta's "extensive experience in footwear for the entire family will help us to continue to provide the right assortment of trend right product".

Shoe Carnival Appoints New General Merchandise Manager

New GMM Brings 32 years of Footwear Industry Experience to the Company

EVANSVILLE, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Shoe Carnival, Inc. (Nasdaq: SCVL), a leading retailer of value-priced footwear and accessories, appointed Carl Scibetta as Executive Vice President and General Merchandise Manager, effective Monday, December 3, 2012. Mr. Scibetta will take over the responsibilities as General Merchandise Manager from Cliff Sifford, who was recently appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company. Mr. Scibetta will report directly to Mr. Sifford.

Mr. Scibetta joins Shoe Carnival with over 32 years of experience in the footwear industry. Most recently, Mr. Scibetta served as Belk’s Vice President, Divisional Merchandise Manager, Footwear, at its headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina. In this role, Mr. Scibetta was responsible for buying, planning and distribution of all family footwear for Belk. During his years with Belk, Mr. Scibetta served in a variety of positions of increasing responsibility, including Divisional Merchandise Manager and Buyer, before becoming its Vice President and Divisional Merchandise Manager in 2008. From 2004 to 2007, Mr. Scibetta served as Parisian’s Vice President and Divisional Merchandise Manager, Footwear, and from 1998 to 2000, he served as Vice President and Divisional Merchandise Manager with the Shoe Corporation of America. His impressive footwear career began at the Wohl Shoe Company, where from 1980 to 1994 he served in positions of increasing responsibility from Field Supervisor, to Merchandiser, Planner, and Merchandise Manager.
