Vietnam exported 53 million pairs of footwear worth $304 million to the EU in the first two months of this year, up 18 per cent year-on-year in volume terms and 14 per cent in value terms, official data revealed on Friday.

But industry officials said that jump was not mirrored in the apparel sector where exports tumbled 35 per cent year-on-year to $66.5m amid a downturn in jacket exports and fierce competition from China.
