In an attempt to meet demands from its export customers, many of whom are contracted until the end of 2002, Macedonian shoe and slipper factory Bargala is to open a new workshop in September 2001.

The expansion will create 50 new jobs, and building and equipping the workshop will cost in the region of DEM1 million ($450,000).

The factory and its subsidiary Martina have a workforce of 1200 and export mainly to the US market.
