The Slovenian Finance Ministry and the Slovenian Development Corporation have between them decided that shoe maker Peko - which was declared bankrupt at the beginning of this year - should be sold at public tender. The most likely purchaser of the business is footwear maker Alpina, Slovenia's largest shoe manufacturer and retailer. Alpina has said, however, that its bid for Peko will depend on the company's appraisal and the terms of the tender.
