Skateboard shoe firm Vans Inc on Tuesday named Steve Murray to the newly created position of chief marketing officer and said two other executives had quit.

Murray will take responsibility for all product and marketing initiatives having been promoted from his former role as senior vice president of international, product merchandising and apparel.

The California-based company said in a statement that Michael Jonte had resigned as vice president, footwear, and Chuck Kupfner had resigned as vice president, controller, effective September 30.

It added Jay Wilson, vice president, global marketing, will focus on its entertainment-related assets and other projects such as licensing.

Commenting on the changes, Vans CEO and president Gary Schoenfeld, said: "These and other recent changes we have made should better position us to execute our core business and further capitalise on the strength of our brand while also reducing our expenses."
