UK: Shoon to acquire Jane Shilton footwear business

By | 13 March 2013

The Jane Shilton footwear business is to be acquired by shoe retailer Shoon in a move that paves the way for the growth of the two brands.

Retail restructuring specialist GA Europe, which took a stake in Shoon last year, will fund the takeover.

Shoon is set to take over 39 Jane Shilton concessions in Beales and Browns department stores and will acquire the associated Jane Shilton footwear stock and licence.

The acquisition, which is subject to approval from the individual stores, will take effect from 1 August after current notice periods have expired. The value of the transaction was not disclosed.

The addition of the Jane Shilton outlets will complement Shoon’s existing high street presence and provides opportunities for significant operational synergies and cost savings in sourcing, the companies said.

"With a similar customer profile to Shoon, we believe we have an excellent opportunity to develop both businesses," said Shoon managing director Stephen Sanders. "This deal represents an exciting stage in our development."

Shoon operates ten stores across the UK and an online business, selling mainly women’s branded shoes. GA Europe supported a buy-out by Shoon’s management team in May 2012, providing funding for working capital, as well as taking a direct stake in the equity.
