USA: ShoppingList.com Expands Executive Team And Board
"Combined, George and Mary bring to ShoppingList.com expertise from both sides of the fence -- encompassing both the Internet and the traditional 'bricks and mortar' businesses," said Jeff Greenberg, CEO, www.ShoppingList.com. "George brings a strong business and product-building savvy combined with a proven track record in successfully growing Web companies. Mary's foundation in consumer packaged goods marketing, growing brands such as Dreyer's and Tropicana, will solidify our sound market approach with customers and partners."
As a member of the ShoppingList.com board of directors, Garrick will work with CEO Jeff Greenberg to develop the company's long-term strategy and vision, leveraging his knowledge and experience in both the Internet space and the marketing services business.
A nationally recognized figure and pioneering thinker in the marketing measurement industry, Garrick is former president and CEO for North America of Information Resources, Inc and A.C. Nielsen. In 1996, Garrick transferred his experience from traditional "bricks and mortar" businesses to the Internet space, founding G2 Ventures, his own Internet investment and consulting company, as well as NetROI, an Internet marketing services company. Garrick became chairman and CEO of Flycast Communications in 1998, and within one year clearly established Flycast as one of the top three Internet advertising networks, growing revenues to $45m.
As chief marketing officer, Mary Gold is responsible for all aspects of defining and expanding the company value proposition, including product and site development as well as overseeing the company's brand building initiatives. Gold's experience will serve to solidify corporate and brand communications to consumers, retailers, manufacturers, as well as to the business and investment communities. At Dreyer's, Gold was responsible for brand management, new product development and licensing, consumer communications, public relations, employee communications and e-commerce and web management.
Prior to her position with Dreyer's, Gold served as vice president of Tropicana's marketing department.
"ShoppingList.com's business model is unique in that it uses the power of the Internet to drive consumers into 'bricks and mortar' stores," said Garrick. "ShoppingList.com is helping retailers and manufacturers navigate the new economy and understand how to use the Internet to drive off-line purchases. It's an online vehicle for the many billions of dollars being spent on local promotional content, allowing local merchants to use the Internet just as they use more traditional sales vehicles."
ShoppingList.com helps consumers find information on advertised sales at their local merchants. Searchable by product category, store and brand, ShoppingList.com features sales information on more than 400 product categories and 30,000 brands available from 6,800 retailers at 140,000 locations nationwide. Visitors to the site will also find other valuable consumer information such as buyers' guides, product reviews and useful shopping tips, and may create personal sales alerts to automatically notify them by email when something they are seeking is listed on sale at a nearby store. ShoppingList.com is free and requires no user registration.
ShoppingList.com is a privately held company based in Sunnyvale, Calif. It has the backing of Trinity Ventures, Brentwood Venture Capital, Venture Strategy Partners, Comdisco Ventures, and Technology Development Fund. For more information, visit the site at www.ShoppingList.com.
