The Indian Silk Exporters Promotion Council (ISEPC) is setting out to showcase the country's top suppliers of silk products at a new three-day event in July.

The first Silk Paradise exposition will take place in New Delhi and will display the product development and manufacturing capability of over 100 suppliers from around India to global buyers from Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa.

The Council aims to provide buyers with a cost-effective and time-efficient buying trip by combining producers of clothing, home furnishing, accessories and fabrics under one roof.

India is the largest consumer of raw silk and the second largest producer, contributing 18% to the world silk production.

Its large pool of skilled and relatively low cost labour, indigenous raw material, product development capabilities and flexible manufacturing systems make it a cost effective supplier of a variety of silk products.

The Silk Paradise exposition will be held on 15-17 July 2009 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India.
