Sock producer Renfro Corp has announced plans to axe 166 jobs at a textile plant in Alabama. The company, which makes socks for brands such as Fruit of the Loom and Ducks Unlimited, said the jobs axe will fall on the Pulaski plant's workers who staff its finishing departments. The North Carolina-based firm cited a soft economy and sluggish apparel sales for its decision but added it will continue to employ 370 people at the factory's knitting and dyeing operations.
