Leading T-shirt producer Gildan Activewear on Thursday posted a 24 per cent jump in second quarter net profit to C$20.4 million ($14.5m) from C$16.4m in the year-ago period thanks to higher sales and gross margins. The Montreal-based company said sales rose 10.5 per cent to C$173.1m from $156.7m in the second quarter of fiscal 2002 thanks to a 21.4 per cent increase in unit shipments partially offset by lower selling prices.
