Manuel Diaz has been appointed president of Spain's textile industry confederation Texfor

Spanish textile industry confederation Texfor has appointed Manuel Diaz as its next president, replacing Alejandro Laquidain.

Diaz will focus on defending the strategic nature of the textile industry, to promote the collaboration of companies throughout the textile clothing chain within the Spanish Intertextile Council (ICD). He has been elected for a period of two years.

Diaz also chairs the Cotton Textile Industrial Process Association (AITPA) and has spent most of his career with Spanish clothing manufacturer Tavex Group. He is currently secretary of its board of directors. He also works as a consultant to other companies in the areas of commercial and labour law. 

The group has also appointed Francesc Planas García as vice president, replacing Josep Casas. Josep Espigul and Alejandro Laquidain have also been appointed as vice presidents.

Javier Borrell and Antoni Ginesta will also join the board, replacing Pablo Fisas and Pepe García, respectively.

Meanwhile, Andrés Borao will become secretary general and Salvador Maluquer has been appointed as a consultant.

Texfor was formed in November 2010 through a merger between the Cotton Textile Industrial Process Association (AITPA)  Sedera Textile Federation (FTS), the Federation of Wool Textile Industry (FITEXLAN) and the National Federation of finishers, printers and Textile Dyers (FNAETT).
