India's textiles exports climbed nine per cent to $6.9 billion in the April to October period of 2002 from $6.3bn in the year prior, official data revealed on Wednesday.

Figures compiled by the textiles ministry showed exports of man-made textiles climbed 21 per cent to $782 million and exports of ready-made clothing 11.6 per cent in the seven month period.

Textile imports rose one per cent to $968m from $959m in 2001.
