Taiwan's textile trade surplus for the first seven months of this year fell 8.12 per cent to $5.43 billion compared to $5.91bn a year ago, figures released by the Director-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics said.

The export value of textiles during the period dropped 6.4 per cent to $6.93bn compared to last year, while import value slipped 0.3 per cent to $1.5bn.

The export value of garments plummeted 27 per cent to $540 million in the seven-month period.
