The North American division of UK-based international logistics group Tibbett & Britten Group Plc has signed a retail logistics contract with US department store giant JC Penney.

The multi-million dollar long-term contract will see Tibbett & Britten Group North America operate one of a new generation of regional "store support centres" in Dallas, Texas.

The 420,000sq ft facility, which began operations last month, provides dedicated warehousing and pre-retailing services for boxed and hanging garments. It employs 500 people and services around 100 stores in the area.

Mike Arrowsmith, Tibbett & Britten Group CEO, said: "I'm delighted to welcome JC Penney - one of the world's most famous retailers - as a Tibbett & Britten customer.

"The new contract is in line with our strategy of further developing the North American business and strengthening our presence in the clothing and general merchandise sectors."
