JAPAN: Uniqlo, Toray unveil white trousers that hide underwear

By | 17 April 2007

The first new material to be jointly launched by Fast Retailing Co, which operates the Uniqlo casualwear stores, and textile maker Toray Industries Inc, is a special lightweight fabric that prevents women's underwear from showing through.

The two companies announced a special fabric partnership last June, with Toray setting up dedicated production lines at its factories around the world to supply the Uniqlo chain with state-of-the-art fabrics.

The special polyester fabric contains a high-density ceramic makes it opaque, and will be used in white trousers for women.

The trousers are due to be launched next week, and Uniqlo aims to sell 200,000 pairs this summer.
