US: United Retail Q2 profit slumps 56%

United Retail Group Inc, which yesterday said it was being bought for $198.9m by Redcats Group, the home shopping arm of French luxury goods leader PPR, has posted a 56% slump in second quarter profit on soft consumer spending.
