Clothing and accessories retailer Urban Outfitters Inc posted a 63 per cent rise in third-quarter net income of $8 million, or 41 cents a share, compared with $4.9 million, or 28 cents a share, a year earlier.

In the period to 31 October, revenue jumped 19 per cent to $110.1 million from $92.9 million. Same-store sales were up 10 per cent in total: its Anthropologie unit rose 15 per cent and its Urban unit climbed 7.7 per cent.

Chairman Richard A Hayne said the strong same-store-sales growth "bodes well for our holiday season."
