BELGIUM: Van de Velde invests in Intimacy

Lingerie firm Van de Velde has reached an agreement to acquire shares of the US firm Intimacy Management.

The company will acquire minority position in Intimacy and has the possibility to increase its shareholding in the long term, a statement said.

Intimacy, which runs three stores in Atlanta, New York and Chicago, will remain a multibrand store managed by Nethero Management Company and its existing leadership team, with independent operations and decision rights.

Van de Velde, whose brands include PrimaDonna and Marie Jo, can realise the transaction with proper funds, it said, and no external financing will be necessary.

Women's lingerie firm Van de Velde said that turnover was up to EUR123.0m (US$161.5m) for 2006, compared to EUR111.9m last year, with its PrimaDonna brand again posting the strongest growth, up 12.1%.
