Veba, a Czech textile manufacturer, saw its sales rise 21 per cent year on year in 2000 according to unaudited results. The company sold a record CZK1.4bn ($36.4m) worth of goods, CEO Josef Novak told the CTK news agency. Veba ended 1999 with a CZK30m ($780,717) loss. Novak attributes the recovery to streamlining operations, and relaunching exports, after a break with the Centrotex company in 1999.
