VF Arvind Brands Private Ltd clothing company, VF Corporation's majority-owned joint venture in India, has named Kanchan Pant as its new managing director.

Pant, who has 20 years' experience in branded clothing and retail, joins from Indus League Clothing, where he was managing director and CEO. He has also worked for Madura Garments and Van Heusen's fledgling Indian business.

"India is one of VF's biggest geographical growth opportunities and we are delighted to have somebody of Kanchan's calibre and experience to lead our team," said Aidan O'Meara, president of VF Asia Pacific. "He will focus on growing our existing Lee, Wrangler, Nautica, Kipling and JanSport brand businesses, while evaluating the many other opportunities that VF's extensive brand portfolio will present in the future in this dynamic and exciting part of the world."

Pant will report to O'Meara and will be based in Bangalore. VF Arvind Brands Private Ltd was established by VF Corporation and The Arvind Mills Ltd in 2006 to design, market and distribute VF products in India.
