US: VF unit extends baseball license agreements

By | 23 May 2007

VF Imagewear, a subsidiary of VF Corporation, has extended its licensing agreements with Major League Baseball (MLB) Properties and the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA).

The tie-ups solidify licensing rights that have previously been held separately by VF Imagewear and Majestic Athletic - the apparel company VF purchased in February.

The licensing deals cover authentic, replica and fan wear products for all size ranges, both genders and distribution channels. The license agreement with MLBPA runs until 2012, while the agreements with MLB Properties were extended to 2014.

VF Imagewear president Ed Doran said: "The Majestic acquisition effectively opened exclusive channels of retail distribution by combining Imagewear's extensive fan wear capabilities with Majestic's expertise in authentic, replica and player products.

"These landmark agreements solidify extremely successful partnerships and provide the continuity required to grow these businesses for all parties. We have experienced a tremendous working relationship in the past with both of these strategic partners, and are excited about our futures together."
